2. The short version

To understand how visitors use this website and to keep improving it, we run our own analytics and record how pages are used. This runs on our own infrastructure — we use no third-party analytics, no advertising networks, and no cross-site tracking. We store a random identifier in your browser to recognise repeat visits. Anything you type (for example into the contact form) is masked and never recorded. You can object at any time — see section 4. Beyond that, personal data only reaches us when you actively send it, through the contact form or by email.

3. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit the site, Vercel automatically processes technical connection data (such as IP address, date and time of the request, browser type, and the pages accessed) in server logs to deliver the website securely and reliably. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Data transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or EU standard contractual clauses.

4. Website analytics and session recording

We operate our own first-party analytics and session-replay tool to see how our website is used and where it can be improved. No third-party analytics or advertising services are involved.

What we process: the pages and sections you view, how long you stay, how far you scroll, your clicks and taps, and the link or source that brought you here, together with technical data about your device and browser (device type, browser, operating system, screen size). Your approximate location (country and, where available, city) is derived by our hosting provider from your IP address; we do not store your IP address.

Cookies and browser storage: we store a randomly generated identifier in your browser’s local storage so we can tell whether a visit is new or returning; it stays until you clear your browser data or opt out (see below). While you browse, we also use your browser’s session storage to keep a single visit together. When you open a personalised or campaign link, we briefly set a cookie to record which link brought you here and remove it again as soon as your visit is recorded. We also remember that you have seen our cookie notice. None of this contains your name or email, and it is not used to track you across other websites.

Session recording: we record a reconstruction of your visit — pointer and touch movements, scrolling, and clicks — so we can see how the page is actually used. Anything you type is masked before it is recorded, so the contents of form fields (name, email, message) never appear in a recording. We do not log the content of your keystrokes.

Personalised links: if you reach this website through a personalised link we sent you (for example in an email), your visit — and, because the identifier above stays in your browser, your later visits from the same browser — may be associated with the contact details we hold for you, so we can follow up on your enquiry. You can remove this association by opting out below or by asking us to delete your data.

Where the data is stored: this analytics data is processed on our behalf by Supabase, Inc. on servers located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in analysing, securing, and continuously improving our website and its usability, and — for personalised links — in communicating with prospective clients (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; where a contract is being prepared, also Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

Retention: the session recordings are automatically deleted 30 days after your last activity; if you return within that period, the 30 days start again from your latest visit. The underlying analytics records — the random visitor identifier together with the visit and behavioural data described above, and, for personalised links, the associated contact — are kept for as long as we operate this analytics, so we can measure longer-term trends. You can have this data deleted at any time (see “Your rights”) or exclude yourself with the button below.

Your choice (right to object): you can object to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). Use the button below to exclude this browser from analytics and recording immediately, or email us at info@buildcustomsoftware.com. Your choice is stored locally in this browser and applies to this domain, so please set it again in other browsers, on our other domain (buildcustomsoftware.com or buildcustomsoftware.de), or after clearing your browser data.

Analytics and session recording are currently active in this browser.

5. Contact form

If you use the contact form, the data you enter (your name, email address, the pricing model you select, and your message) is transmitted via the form service FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) and forwarded to our email inbox. The same details are also stored in our own customer-management system (on Supabase, in the EU) so we can process and follow up on your enquiry; if you reached us during a tracked visit, the enquiry may be linked to that visit (see section 4). We use this data exclusively to handle your request and keep it until the request is settled or you ask us to delete it. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract) or our legitimate interest in answering your inquiry (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). FormSubmit may process data on servers outside the EU; transfers are safeguarded by EU standard contractual clauses. If you prefer not to use the form, you can always email us directly. If you book a call through our website, the details you enter (first and last name, email, phone, and any note) are stored in the same customer-management system to arrange and follow up on the call.

6. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the personal data you provide to handle your request and possible follow-up questions. We do not share this data with third parties unless required to deliver the service you asked for. Emails you send to our sales mailbox may be stored in our customer-management system (on Supabase, in the EU) and matched to your contact record so we can keep the conversation in one place; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in managing our business communication (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

7. Retention of inquiries

We store inquiries only as long as needed to process them or as long as statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. for correspondence that becomes part of a business relationship).

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectify (Art. 16), and erase (Art. 17) your personal data, to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77). To exercise your rights, email us at info@buildcustomsoftware.com.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this privacy policy whenever the way this website processes data changes. The date above shows the latest revision.
